Bo trouble?

This is a little webpage highlighting the dreadful quality of customer service provided by the furniture company Bo concept.

I placed an order for two items of furniture with Bo concept on the 10th of November 2002. I placed the order at the Southampton branch of this company. The service provided was first class, myself and my wife had around an hours worth of attention from a very informative and polite shop assistant. My wife and i decided to purchase an individi corner sofa and a cherrywood sideboard.

That was last year. Well, it's now April the 10th 2003, 151 days later and we received our sideboard yesterday. We still have no sofa. here is our front room, empty and waiting for our sofa.

Yesterday was the second delivery attempt by Bo Concept, our first was a total disaster. The sofa arrived with only four of the eight legs, it was also missing the wooden arm tops and the colour of the arm bases didn't match the colour of the main body. The sideboard didn't even make it into the house, apparently it was damaged in transit. The guy who delivered the goods was extremely embarrassed, even more so as he uncovered problem after problem. Needless to say we returned the entire order and contacted Bo Concept about a redelivery.

A picture of the sofa (well most of it) in our front room, this is as far as it got.

Timeline of Bo concept ineptitude

November 10th 2002 - order placed (Oops - salespeople forget to enter wooden arm tops into factory order)

28th January - order turns up (oops - Bo factory forgets to put the arm tops in. Oops - Bo Concept factory neglects to put in enough legs. Ooops - the sideboard is damaged in transit. Oops - Bo Concept customer services rep neglects to contact us to let us know the sofa is damaged.)

3rd March - Bo Concept contacted, new delivery date cannot be given, customer services rep has no idea when the parts are going to be made, they'll get back to us. Bo Concept agree to put right all of the original problems and get us a new sofa, plus the missing arms and legs. Compensation is offered and accepted, cheque to be sent by return.

27th March - No date for new furniture yet. No cheque. Bo Concept contacted again.

29th march - Delivery date of the 10th April arranged, all parts are in the country - Hurrah! Still no cheque.

10th April - Delivery truck arrives, ooops, no sofa! 'we thought you had it'. The sideboard is on the truck though, hurrah! Sideboard assembled and fitted. I was disappointed with the bare, unfinished edges at the back of the top edge of the sideboard. I didn't notice these in the shop, I will have to pop back and have a look.

11th April - Contacted Bo Concept again. I think they now understand that we would like a sofa that has matching fabric on it. They were about to send the original one back to us, hence their confusion on its where-abouts - it was in their warehouse still. The customer services rep disputes the fact that the mismatch was mentioned on the delivery note - we fax them a copy to prove we are not lying. Later in the day Bo Concept are contacted again and we have been quoted ANOTHER eight week wait for a new sofa. We have been offered £1.34 a day compensation while we wait.

23rd April - WOW! Episode three of the Laurel and Hardy Bo Concept sofa sketch was played out last night. The interim sofa that Bo were going to deliver to let us finally sit down was delivered. Unfortunately they only brought half of the legs again! What a bunch of idiots! The ineptitude of this company is becoming legendary, three times they have sent a lorry the length of the UK without properly checking the goods first. I am at a loss for words, if it wasn't happening I would find it unbelievable. I think we are on a Beadles About summer special. Oh how I wish 'That's life' was still on telly, I could get Esther involved and we would be saved any further stress and hassle from a company that is obviously crap. We aretrying to find the telephone number of someone who gives a toss today so we can finally get somewhere. I am dumbfounded yet gain.

Bo Concept have had £2,400 of our money for six months now. we still have no sofa.

Take my advice:
